2022 has been exciting in many regards. After a few years of pandemic restrictions, it has been thrilling to watch Jackson Hole come back to life. One thing that has been particularly exciting for me to watch is the return of arts programming to Jackson Hole!
Anyone who has visited Jackson Hole in the past knows the richness of the town's culture. In pre-pandemic years, Jackson Hole was constantly busy with cultural events such as concerts, art gallery showcases, special art events, and festivals. These things largely stopped in 2019 as COVID-19 spread. Now, Jackson Hole has returned to its former cultural glory. Slowly but surely, Jackson Hole's signature art programming is starting to pop up around town.
In 2022, the Jackson Hole calendar was packed with arts events. Highlights have been outlined in recent reporting by Jackson Hole News & Guide.
Governor's Arts Awards were awarded to five individuals and organizations in January 2022, including Off Square Theatre Company and Jackson Hole artist and Art Association Executive Director Bronwyn Minton, kicking off a year of stellar arts programming.
Jackson Hole's National Museum of Wildlife Art acquired a wonder 1912 oil painting by Thomas Moran, and local painter Katy Fox opened her own gallery, Foxtrot Fine Arts. Furthermore, Jackson's Miga Rossetti held a solo exhibition at the Center for the Arts. Of course, September's Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival was another massive hit!
The Dancers' Workshop celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2022 with a diverse array of events. Visits by the Florida-based Cirque Ma'Ceo and rounded out the slate of spectacular performances. There were too many concerts to name!
Historical programming included an event featuring Holocaust survivor Estelle Nadel, hosted by the Jackson Hole Jewish Community, as well as the Western Heritage tribute event Old West Days.
These are just a small fraction of the great events that took place in Jackson Hole this past year. You can expect even more throughout 2023!
