The Teton County Fair returns July 19-28, 2019, where the community and visitors anticipate the celebration of Jackson Hole's western history.

Since the beginning of the fair days in 1956, locals and visitors look forward to summer days filled with nationally recognized musicians and rodeo competitors.  Other fair favorites are the pony rides, pig wresting, figure 8 car races, petting zoo, ninja course, and more.  Bring your cowgirl/cowboy boots and favorite western flare, then head to the rodeo grounds to participate in all the fun.  The Rodeo Grounds are near the base of the town’s Snow King Mountain.  It is about a 15 minute walk from the Town Square or a 5 minute drive.

Wednesday July 24th through Sunday, July 28th enjoy games, rides, sweet treats, petting zoo, and warm summer days.   The 4H club is there to showcase this long standing tradition.  Wonder what kind of rides take place at the Teton County Fair/Carnival?  Well, be prepared for all of the favorites with the Swing, Zipper, Cliffhanger, Freak Out, Ring of Fire, and more.

On Wednesday, July 24th starting at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6) is set to be a crowd favorite where Whiskey Myers will play a rock-out show on the grassy arena.  Whiskey Myers is best known for songs such as “Ballard of a Southern Man” and “Stone.”  Their album ‘Early Morning shakes’ had a number 1 hit on the iTunes Country chart where reviews came in from Rolling Stone.  They were also recently showcased on Kevin Costner’s hit show “Yellowstone.”  If that is not enough to convince you this band can rock, note that they have also shared stages with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr.

Taking place on Thursday, July 25th at 7:00 p.m. is another favorite with squealing sounds from both the crowd and pigs at the Pig Wrestling event.  At Pig Wrestling, a team is given one minute to grab and stuff a pig into a barrel (bottom first).  Some folks think this is an easy task, but unless you have tried or watched pig wrestling, you will beg to differ.  It is a challenge, and a muddy ton of fun to watch!

Saturday, July 27th showcases bull riding, bronc riding, calf roping, barrel racing, mutton busting and more fun rodeo traditions.  Wondering what bronc riding or mutton busting is?  Bronc riding is a horse instead of a bull, and mutton busting is bull riding for kids on a sheep.  Take that for a fun twist.

Sunday, July 28th concludes with the Figure 8 car races.  Wrap up the weekend watching this true demolition derby which is also claimed as a crowd favorite.

The Teton County Fair truly is a summer classic.  It is more than just a carnival and games.  The fair is a week for the community to gather in western heritage and celebrate true Jackson Hole.
